Fragments of the shattered Worldstone, still embued with great power, are tainting the land.” reads a story synopsis on Blizzard’s site. “The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions.
According to Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal website, the game is set to focus on “untold chapter in the Diablo Saga” which takes place between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.
